SKR has incorporated all of the “best practices” of the industry to offer our residents a higher quality of care than the larger communities in a small, personalized, home-like setting that assisted living was intended to be.
There is never a need for private duty staff as our residents receive private duty service from our caring staff 24 hours each day. With an 8 to 1 resident to staff ratio, our care providers have the freedom to spend the necessary time needed to properly care for our residents. They are encouraged to set with each resident and spend quality time with them each day.
We have a reputable physician specializing in Geriatric Internal Medicine that makes house calls. He is available to us 24 hour for consults on his patients should we need him. Our nursing staff is top notch with over 20 years hospital and nursing home experience.
Exercise is an important part of our day. We have an exercise program geared towards the needs of our residents and designed to promote their independence.
Physical therapy is available on-site by board certified, licensed therapists. If a medical condition beyond staff abilities should arise, we arrange for home health nurses to visit our residents on-site for their convenience at no charge to the families. We arrange all outside services available to our resident when they need it and if the family is too busy, we’ll even take our residents to their doctor appointments, stay with them and see the doctor with them, for a small fee.
We use one pharmacy that bubble packs all of our residents medications minimizing possible errors. Our pharmacy works closely with us and our resident’s physicians to assure proper doses and timely delivery of those medications. They deliver our residents medications same day as the doctor orders them in most cases. They participate in most insurance plans as well as manufacturers discount plans.
We have regular weekly outings for birthdays, salon/barber shop, grocery shopping and are always open to suggestions from our residents as to where they want to go.. Family gatherings are a part of our life. We have three annual gatherings: Thanksgiving, 4th of July and Labor Day offers us a great opportunity to say “Thank you” and we do that with a special event like dinner or cook-out.
